Ealing’s green spaces are gold standard

The borough’s beautiful parks and green spaces have struck gold in the London in Bloom Awards for a fifth year in a row.

An amazing total of 17 sites were recognised in the annual awards, which celebrates the very best of the capitals beautiful green spaces.   

Ealing’s parks triumphed with a mixture of Gold, Silver, Silver Gilt, Thriving and Outstanding awards in the following categories:  

Park

  • Silver Gilt – Acton Park
  • Gold – Walpole Park 

Large Park

  • Silver Gilt – Southall Park
  • Silver Gilt – Southfield Rec 

Small conservation

  • Silver – Boles meadow
  • Silver Gilt – Lammas enclosure 

Conservation

  • Silver Gilt – Blondin Park Nature Area 

Large Conservation

  • Silver Gilt – Hanwell Meadows
  • Gold – Horsenden East
  • Gold – Horsenden West
  • Gold – Yeading Brook Meadow 

Large City

  • Gold – Borough wide 

It’s Your Neighbourhood

  • Thriving – Hanwell and Norwood Green Orchard Trail
  • Outstanding – Ascott Allotments
  • Outstanding – Friends of Horsenden Hill
  • Outstanding – Katherine Buchan Meadow
  • Outstanding – Friends of Litten Nature Reserve 

Councillor Mik Sabiers, cabinet member for environment and highways, said: “Our wonderful parks and green spaces are one of the reasons Ealing is such a great place to live, work and visit. 

“It’s great to receive more prestigious awards for our parks and open spaces and I’d especially like to say a huge thank you for all the hard work of our park rangers and community volunteers who help keep our parks looking stunning.” 

There are a number of ways that local people can get involved with their local parks and help keep the borough’s green spaces among the best in London. Visit the Bubble community website, at dosomethinggood.org.uk – where you can find community gardening opportunities or start your own Friends Group to help keep our local horticultural spaces ‘in Bloom’.
