Mayor of Ealing presenting adult learner with achievement certificate

Learn Ealing proudly celebrates achievements

Ealing Council’s adult learning team (Learn Ealing) recently hosted a special event to celebrate its learners outstanding achievements, development and progression to higher level courses or employment.

The special event was held at the DoubleTree Hilton in Ealing Common on Thursday, 24 November, and was attended by learners, tutors and the Learn Ealing team. They were joined by Councillor Bassam Mahfouz, the council’s cabinet member for decent living incomes, and the Mayor of Ealing, Councillor Mohinder Midha, who presented certificates and awards to the students.

Many of the learners have entered employment, improved their career prospects through volunteering and work experience as well as developing self-confidence and wellbeing.

Councillor Mahfouz said: “It was fantastic to be part of such a special evening and to celebrate the great successes of all our learners and of the incredible team at the council that has helped them to accomplish so much.

“We are determined to offer at least 12,000 new qualifications and training programmes to residents over the next few years. If you haven’t already, take a look and start learning with us today.

“Thank you to all our partners for their continuous support and commitment to ensuring that local people have equal access to training and development opportunities.”

The evening’s festivities were also in recognition of the role the tutors play in helping their learners to improve their lives and future prospects. Councillor Mahfouz was joined by Shanzeeda Chowdhury, from the Greater London Authority, to award certificates to tutors.

Shanzeeda said: “Thank you to Ealing Council and Learn Ealing for the brilliant delivery and high achievements including utilising all the allotted funding. The participation by Ealing residents in Adult Education Budget (AEB) provision is one of the highest participation areas in London – 8th. Ealing is also the 5th highest in London for AEB enrolments.”
