Eat Out to Help Out this month

Eat Out to Help Out, the government’s scheme to support restaurants, cafes and pubs in the borough, is still continuing until the end of August. The scheme offers customers 50% off their bill, up to £10 off per person.

The discount can be used unlimited times and is valid all-day Monday to Wednesday on any eat-in meal, including on non-alcoholic drinks, from the 3 to 31 August 2020.

You do not need a voucher to use the scheme and it can be used in conjunction with other offers and discounts at the venue. There is no minimum spend, but alcoholic drinks and service charges are excluded from the offer.

Under the scheme diners can get 50% off food and non-alcoholic drinks up to a total value of £10 per person when eating or drinking in at participating venues.

Use the online restaurant finder to find participating restaurants. Simply enter your postcode, or one near to where you want to eat out.

Stay safe

When visiting a participating restaurant, please remember that you need to continue to be COVID-19 secure and ensure that you are following social distancing.

Report a business

You can report fraud to HMRC if you think an establishment is abusing the scheme.

Participating businesses

Businesses who wish to participate in the scheme should visit the government’s Eat Out to Help Out scheme web page to find out more and register.

The claims service for participating businesses is now open. Restaurants can claim weekly reimbursement and payment will be made within five working days.


If you are taking part in the scheme, please remember that you need to continue to be COVID-19 Secure and ensure that you are enforcing social distancing measures to keep your customers and staff safe. You also need to follow the NHS Test and Trace workplace guidance to help slow the spread of the virus.

Eat Out to Help Out webinar for businesses interested in taking part in the scheme is being held by the government on 25 August. The webinar will last for 45 minutes and you need to register in advance.
