Connecting culture in the borough

Have you seen the new website supporting the borough’s brilliant creative community and showcasing local arts, music and culture events?

On the new Ealing Culture website you can find news and information about the wealth of arts and culture events on offer across the borough. It has been set up by Ealing Council and local organisations will be able to list their events for free on the website so that more people can find out what is happening in each of our 7 towns.

From festivals and gigs to free film screenings; art exhibitions to craft fairs; carnivals to calligraphy classes; dance lessons to comedy shows. Whatever you love there will be something for everyone to enjoy.

Council leader Peter Mason said: “Our borough has a proud history of creating world renowned film, music and culture. We produced a cultural manifesto detailing our ambitions to build on that legacy and this exciting new website is part of that drive.

“A thriving and dynamic arts and cultural scene is a great way of bringing communities together and making our borough and each of our 7 towns an even better place to live. There is a fantastic range of cultural activities taking place and we want as many people as possible to get involved and enjoy what’s on offer.”

Cultural manifesto

The cultural manifesto and action plan was created with contributions from many of the creative organisations and individuals in the borough, to strengthen the borough’s creative heritage and its artistic and cultural landscape.

The council will also soon be publishing a new cultural infrastructure plan that builds on the ambitions of the manifesto. This will set out proposals to build and develop the borough’s cultural sector, create new training and career opportunities and investment in supporting a thriving creative community.

Councillor Polly Knewstub, the council’s cabinet member for thriving communities, said: “Ealing is buzzing with creativity and the events happening across the borough showcase the vibrant cultures of the many communities that call our borough home.

“This new website is just the start of our ambitions for more people to get involved in the arts. Whether that’s by taking part, exploring opportunities for volunteering, finding a career in the creative sector, or simply through enjoying fantastic events and experiences. Over the coming months we hope to grow the site into an even better resource to support our cultural organisations and share what’s happening with as many residents as possible.

“We’ve been working with our cultural partners to make this happen, coming together so that we can celebrate the borough’s creative spirit and energy. But we still need your help. If you have an idea, or an event to share large or small, then get involved by visiting the website and help us let others know about it too.”
