Parents, carers, and families preparing for the arrival of a child are being asked to share their views and help shape the future of childcare services across the borough.
Ealing Council is inviting people to complete a survey as part of a regular review, called a Childcare Sufficiency Assessment. It looks at whether there are enough childcare places available for families in the borough, where those places are, and whether they meet families’ needs.
The short survey is open until 29 June and is for residents who currently have a child under 5, or who might be planning for one.
Take part in the online survey.
Why does your feedback matter?
The council is required by law to assess childcare provision, but numbers alone do not tell the full story. Real experiences from families help build a clearer picture of what is working – and what isn’t.
The survey will help the council to understand:
- whether there are enough places across the borough’s 7 towns
- if provision works for different needs, including babies, toddlers and children with additional needs
- whether childcare is available at the times families need, including for shift or weekend work
- how accessible, flexible and affordable it really is
How will your feedback be used?
The survey results will help to shape plans for future childcare provision in the borough. Responses will be analysed and included in the council’s Childcare Sufficiency Assessment report. The findings will be used to identify gaps, such as shortages in certain areas, limited provision for specific age groups, or a lack of flexible hours.
Ultimately, the feedback will support planning for childcare that is:
- in the right locations
- available at the right times
- high-quality and responsive to demand
It will also inform wider funding decisions and policy.
Have your say
Councillor Blerina Hashani, the council’s cabinet member for a fairer start, said: “Every family’s experience of childcare matters. Whether you’re currently using a nursery, relying on informal care, or planning ahead, your voice will help us understand what families in the borough really need. By taking a few minutes to complete this survey, you can help us continue to provide childcare that is accessible, flexible and works for local families. I strongly encourage parents and carers to take part.”
