Fancy watching emergency crews carrying out rescue missions? Or getting in touching distance of a fire truck or police car? A family-friendly event promises this and a lot more.
It is free to go along to the Emergency Response Roadshow being held on Saturday 12 September.
Fire, police, ambulance and council officers will be providing hands-on interactive activities to showcase how the borough is prepared for a range of emergency situations.
You will be able to watch live demonstrations of rescue situations. This includes seeing a bomb squad swing into action, a riot gear demonstration from the police and a firehose show by the fire brigade. And there are interactive screens to use, too.
Of course, it is also a rare opportunity for the public to meet the women and men who keep the local community safe, as well as to get up close to fire trucks, ambulances and police cars – and to try out their equipment.
As if that was not enough, there are emergency planning games for young people to get involved in – and you can also tuck into food and refreshments, including gourmet burgers.
Councillor Jasbir Anand, Ealing Council’s cabinet member for tackling crime and antisocial behaviour, said: “This emergency roadshow is a rare opportunity for the local community to meet the very people – the community’s real life superheroes – who might be at the frontline of an emergency in our borough and better understand what they do to keep them safe. In addition, it’s going to be lots of fun with emergency vehicles, equipment to try on and free food as an added bonus.”
The emergency response roadshow is open to all ages, and while entry is free, booking is required. Book your place online.
It takes place from 12noon to 4pm, at Parkside Yards, (The Green Quarter), 1 Seva Drive, Southall, UB1 1GH.
The mayor of Ealing, Councillor Faduma Mohamed, who will be a special guest attending the event, said: “I’m really looking forward to this high-energy, hands-on community event showcasing the incredible work our emergency services do to keep us safe.”
