Cllr Knewstub tries out swing on one of the renovated playgrounds

Playgrounds are getting a new look

Ealing Council is renovating 22 playgrounds across the borough, making them more enjoyable for children to use and get active.

The renovations, worth almost £2 million, will improve the quality of play areas in the borough’s parks so young residents and their families can continue to enjoy them for socialising and exercise and to improve their wellbeing.

With the introduction of new equipment and surfacing, families are already enjoying the improved playground at South Acton Recreation Ground playground, as well as the playgrounds at Avenue Road Park, Spencer Street, Lammas and Jubilee Parks.

Improvements, including new play areas and balance trails, surfacing works and drainage, are coming to the following playgrounds in the next 12 months:

Dean Gardens

Islip Manor Park

Northala Fields

Southall Manor House Grounds

Ravenor Park

Central Plaza

Rectory Park

Spikesbridge Park

Lammas Park

North Acton Playing Fields

Acton Park

Southall Park

Springfield Gardens

Cerebros Gardens

Northolt Park

Blacklands

Wesley Playing Fields

Councillor Polly Knewstub, Ealing Council’s cabinet member for thriving communities, who visited the South Acton Recreation Ground playground this week, said: “We promised to provide our residents with well-loved community sports facilities across the borough. We started with improving seven tennis courts, created the first dedicated parkour facility in the borough last year, and we are very excited that children from all ages and abilities can now enjoy 5 improved playgrounds in Southall, Acton and Ealing.

“Outdoor community playgrounds are vital in providing opportunities for children of different ages to get active, while also helping them to make new friends. Watch out for the rest of the new or improved playgrounds coming soon near you.”
