Welcome back to Reel Life. If you’ve been watching commercial breaks over Christmas and seen any ads for Next, Google, Vodafone, Primark, Boots, B&Q, Zara, Next, or Vogue magazine, to name only a few; chances are, it was filmed in our borough.
Of course, it was all done with the guidance and logistical support of the West London Film Office (which is based at Ealing Council). And, as 2026 gets under way, it seems only fitting we use Reel Life to round-up some of the locations and superb production crews that came to film here during 2025.
The borough offers an exceptionally diverse choice of locations for filmmakers. A location manager can expect to find a spot for an urban metropolis, a road for a controlled stunt with a car, a medieval church, a leafy suburban street and the pick of more than 100 parks or open spaces.
It’s no surprise that so many of the world’s most famous companies and brands come to film here this year, from technology giants to fashion brands, food firms to furniture manufacturers, and home improvements stores to energy suppliers.
Bombs, action heroes and Kate
Hattrick Productions stopped by The Forester pub in W13, to film a few scenes for series 3 of ITVX bomb disposal thriller, Trigger Point. The fabulously refurbished venue makes the perfect backdrop for on-screen pints and banter – and possibly helps at the end of a hard day’s filming.
Amazon feature film Jack Ryan chose Northolt as a base to film some of the political action thriller based on the hugely popular Tom Clancy novels.
But you don’t need to be in the CIA to know our borough is a great place to film. Kate Winslet does and she filmed scenes for her directorial debut Goodbye June here. The Netflix Christmas feature boasts a star-studded ensemble of legendary actors that included Dame Helen Mirren, Timothy Spall and Toni Collette; and director Kate still found time to act as well…
Beavers, mice and a knight of the realm
Talking of legends, we were privileged to have Sir David Attenborough and his BBC team film in Greenford for his New Year’s Day special documentary, entitled Wild London.
Sir David made a special appearance at the Ealing Beaver Project to observe our very own colony of rewilded beavers. The project is a great example of how Ealing Council is working with community groups like the Ealing Wildlife Group to promote biodiversity and create and conserve natural habitats and safe places for wildlife across the borough. Sir David also met an inquisitive and friendly harvest mouse – another species the council has helped to rewild locally.
Thank you, and good night
Filmmaking is a team endeavour and the West London Film Office (WLFO) would like to thank all the crews and production companies that chose to film with us. Most importantly, thanks to all our residents and local businesses for being patient and flexible with productions working in your areas.
This further cements more than 100 years of filmmaking history and maintains our reputation as go-to film-friendly borough.
