Living Wage backed by 100 local employers

There are now 100 employers in the borough paying the London Living Wage, guaranteeing their workers a fair rate of pay, so they can afford the essentials and start to save money.

Between them, these Living Wage accredited organisations employ more than 15,000 people. Of those, almost 1,000 people have received a pay rise as a direct result of their employer becoming accredited.

To celebrate this milestone, Ealing Council has created a Wall of Fame on the Good for Ealing website to showcase employers who lead the way in supporting fair pay.

The London Living Wage is a voluntary rate. Businesses of all sizes can become accredited as an official Living Wage employer, including sole traders, charities, and not-for-profit organisations.

Your business could become one of them, and start to reap some of the benefits reported to the Living Wage Foundation by 94% of the accredited employers across the country.

What are the benefits?

What will you get? Well, it will include:

  • your first year of accreditation fees covered
  • a dedicated ‘Business Buddy’ from the council
  • free support with recruitment, business planning, and staff training
  • free promotion through borough-wide council communications, including the Wall of Fame
  • inclusion on the council’s Living Wage suppliers list

Sign up by 28 February 2026 to access all of these benefits.

Invest in your company’s future

Based in Hanwell since 1995, Benchmark Scaffolding won an award from the council at a special ceremony held for local London Living Wage employers earlier this year, for its significant dedication and contribution to the construction sector.

Mike Hanger is Benchmark’s compliance manager. He said: “The future is very important to us. Therefore, we invest in the future and the people who will take us there. We openly embrace diversity in the workforce, and ‘green’ is the way forward with a plan to achieve net zero carbon emissions by 2030. Winning a Living Wage accolade has been a great way of showing gratitude to our team whose hard work has earned the praise.”

‘A proud milestone’

Ealing Council leader Peter Mason said: “Reaching 100 London Living Wage employers is a proud milestone for the borough, which reflects our ongoing commitment to help businesses to pay fairly, and supports our status as the first and only Living Wage Place in west London. This achievement shows the strength of our growing borough-wide network. We remain dedicated to ensuring local people have access to decent living incomes to improve their lives for the better.”

Councillor Kamaljit Nagpal, the council’s cabinet member for decent living incomes said: “With many residents working multiple jobs just to make ends meet, and employers also under pressure, this initiative and the benefits the council provide to help local employers on their journey to accreditation are more important than ever. Being London Living Wage accredited can boost your reputation with customers and funders, as well as supporting a more stable, productive team. Thank you to all the businesses championing our campaign for fair pay.”
