Women in a sports hall doing self defence moves

Women’s confidence booster course

Self-confidence is the number one thing many people want more of. Not only does it play a big part in our mental health – it also helps us in our everyday lives as well as professionally.

Sev Necati Training is offering 10 women and girls across the borough a free six-week confidence building course, which also includes one week of self-defence training. The course aims to empower women and give them more independence, as well as skills to protect themselves and the opportunity to learn a variety of new techniques that will boost their confidence.

The programme, which is funded by The Mayor’s Office for Policing and Crime and supported by Ealing’s Safer Neighbourhood Board, will begin on Saturday, 13 November, and will run every Saturday until 18 December. Classes will take place between 11am-1pm at the Reynolds Sports Centre in Acton, with girls and women aged 14+ welcome to sign up.

A £10.50 deposit is required to secure a place but it will be refunded at the end of the course. Participants will be issued with a certificate once they have completed the training, terms and conditions apply.

Councillor Aysha Raza, Ealing Council’s cabinet member for tackling inequalities, said: “This is a fantastic initiative. The programme gives those taking part the tools they need to become self-empowered, which will help with many areas of their life. Sadly, many people have lost confidence in themselves during the pandemic, and Sev Necati Training will impart these vital skills into the women of Ealing. This course has been extremely popular in the past and I would highly recommend that you sign up to secure a space.”

Only 10 free spaces are available, so if you are interested in signing up or would like more information, you should email info@sevnecatitraining.com as soon as you can. You can also visit their Facebook page here.
