The borough’s sporting talent was celebrated at the 8th annual Ealing Sports Awards last week.
The awards showcase the successes and efforts of sports people, clubs, coaches and volunteers from across the borough and recognise their contribution to the community.
Mayor of Ealing, Councillor Anthony Kelly, the council’s cabinet member for thriving communities, Councillor Blerina Hashani, and special guest and former Great Britain athlete, Jacqui Agyepong, presented 9 categories at the event, which took place at William Perkin High School in Greenford.
The event was organised by Ealing Council, with support from Everyone Active, which manages the borough’s sport and leisure centres on behalf of the council.
Outstanding contribution to sport
The Outstanding Contribution to Sport Award was awarded posthumously to John Taylor, who sadly passed away in March. John gave more than 34 years’ service to Middlesex Football Association and grassroots football.
His legacy lives on in the thousands he inspired across the borough and beyond. His wife, Gill, collected his award. She said: “I and all the family are extremely honoured. It shows us how highly regarded and respected John was in the Football Community.”
