An artist will be leading some family fun in Walpole Park in October, encouraging you to ‘draw’ inspiration from the beautiful surroundings to create some art. And then you can find out about some of the park’s nocturnal residents during a Hallowe’en-inspired ‘bat walk’ with special detectors.
The Big Draw is the world’s biggest drawing festival with thousands of venues across the country offering free drawing activities to get people of all ages involved. It runs throughout October and an event will be taking place at Walpole Park, off Mattock Lane in Ealing, on Saturday, 28 October – at the end of the autumn half term holiday.

Starting at around 2pm, the afternoon’s free artistic activities will be themed around ‘animation’ and ‘Living Lines’. Anyone can get involved – even if you think you are unable to draw.
Fun activities will be led by the artist, new techniques will be learned, and the park will provide a backdrop to inspire ideas.
No booking is required – just come down to the Rickyard building, next to the playground and café, on the day.
The event will culminate in a ‘bat walk’ at 5.30pm. If you join in, you will be taken to visit the known bat ‘hang outs’ around the park, learn some facts about these nocturnal creatures and see if you can see and hear them using special bat detectors as evening settles in.
