Ward forums a great way to get involved

Since the dust settled after the local elections in May, your ward councillors have been busy over the summer finding out what is happening around your local neighbourhood.

Although many of you will have had the chance to talk to them on your own doorstep, the councillors will be holding two ward forums each year so you have another chance to have your say on the local issues that are important to you.

These public meetings in local venues will also have information on council services and events, and forthcoming consultations that affect your ward. You will often hear about inspiring projects being delivered by local residents and community organisations. A recent example was the help forums provided to set up a new base for a local boxing club. Champ James DeGale attended the opening – you can see him in the ring in the photo above.

Over the coming four years the councillors are looking forward to working with you and focusing on preventing problems occurring or recurring. These may include community safety, traffic and transport schemes, parks and street improvements.

Each forum combines the local knowledge and assistance of residents, businesses and the elected councillors to collectively improve the local neighbourhood by seeking out opportunities and recommending local improvement projects to benefit and tackle some of the ongoing concerns in your ward from each forum’s annual budget of £30,000.

By better co-ordinating how we work together, ward forums can help our neighbourhoods thrive as part of Future Ealing, the council’s plan for the coming years.

For more details on ward forum meetings go to www.ealing.gov.uk/wardforum – and if you are not sure which ward you live in you can check by using the council’s ‘Find Your Nearest’ online tool.
