Saving on energy bills

Want to save on your energy bills?

Ealing Council is again offering to help residents get a better deal on their energy bills by switching provider and saving money.

The Big London Energy Switch (BLES) scheme, run by the council’s partner iChoosr brings people together to use their collective buying power and secure better deals on fuel bills. It takes the hassle out of searching for a cheaper fuel supplier, registering your interest is simple, and there is no obligation to switch.

It is the 21st time the scheme has been run since 2013, and residents who have switched provider in that time have achieved an average saving of £241 on their fuel bills.

The next auction will take place on Tuesday, 8 October, when energy suppliers will compete against each other to offer people the cheapest tariffs available.

Everyone who registers will be contacted with a personal offer and then can decide whether to switch or stay with their current energy supplier and tariff.

Registration is open now at biglondonenergyswitch.co.uk/ealing/register Ealing residents can sign up until Monday, 7 October.

Helping residents save money

Councillor Jasbir Anand, the council’s cabinet member for housing, said: “Comparing the different tariffs offered by energy companies can be confusing and time consuming. The energy switch scheme is the ideal opportunity for people to compare tariffs and make informed choices.

“The scheme aims to make it easier for people to get a better deal on energy bills by buying collectively with other Londoners. Nearly 10,000 Ealing Residents have registered their interest for the scheme, since the first auction in 2013. The 1,500 residents who made the switch saved £367,639 on their energy bills.

“We encourage residents to register before the next auction, so they can get a better deal and, potentially, lower bills.”

Anyone who pays a bill can participate, including tenants and residents on pre-pay meters.
