Budgeting your money

Maximise your finances with the Money Course

Help is at hand for anyone in the borough who wants help to make their money go further, thanks to the Money Course.

Following the huge success of similar sessions earlier this year, Crosslight Advice will be running more free money management sessions in Greenford and Hanwell in the coming weeks.

The Money Course is a simple budgeting course, designed to help you get on top of your finances – and it’s completely free to take part.

Crosslight Advice is a charity which works to lift people out of poverty and help them build a better future. It specialises in providing debt advice and money education, for individuals and families who are struggling.

The course will share information, tips and tools for money management, budgeting and saving money. Each course is made up of three sessions, a week apart (which means the full course is three weeks long) and each session is followed by a light lunch, which is also free.

Anyone attending the Money Course will also be eligible to sign up for Crosslight’s free Budget Coaching programme afterwards, which provides one-to-one support.

Course details

Details of the courses and how you can sign up are:

  • Hanwell. Fridays 29 September, 6 and 13 October, 10:30am-12pm, St Mellitus Church, 1 Church Road, Hanwell W7 3BA. Sign up for the course.
  • Greenford. Tuesdays 14, 21 and 28 November, midday-2pm, Greenford Baptist Church, Beechwood Avenue, Greenford UB6 9UA. Sign up for the course.

‘Free sessions to help you plan and manage your money’

Councillor Steve Donnelly, Ealing Council’s cabinet member for an inclusive economy, said: “With inflation still running at around 7% and costs going up all the time, more and more people are struggling with their household finances and debt. That’s why the Money Course is so important. As well as checking what support you might be eligible for from the council, these free sessions will help you to plan and manage your money.”

James Harrington attended one of the previous editions of the Money Course in Hanwell. He said: “I really enjoyed it. The videos are good and the course leader explains things well without judgement. There were discussions afterwards. It was also a bit of a social thing on Friday mornings; there were refreshments and sandwiches afterwards.”
