Ealing marks Recycling Week with extra support for residents

Ealing Council is marking Recycling Week (24-28 September 2018) by hosting a drop-in event packed with advice and tips designed to help residents to recycle more and boost rates across the borough.

The event takes place in Ealing Town Hall on Wednesday 26 September 2018 in committee room 4 between 12 midday and 6pm.

The council’s recycling team will be on hand to provide information on the benefits of recycling and what you can do to improve your recycling habits. Local people will have the opportunity to ask questions and find out information on recycling.

Now in its 15th year, Recycle Week is a celebration of recycling, organised by the WRAP (Waste and Resources Action Programme). WRAP works with councils, businesses and communities to encourage the public to recycle more by demonstrating the benefits of recycling.

Councillor Mik Sabiers, cabinet member for environment and highways said: “I encourage local people to come along to next week’s drop-in session where there will be a huge range of useful information on recycling and managing waste sustainably.

“There’s so much that can be recycled and even those who recycle regularly will be surprised by items that could be added into your blue bin. I encourage everyone to take a look at what they are throwing in the rubbish and see whether there’s anything they can recycle instead.

“Ealing is outperforming every other London borough bar one for recycling rates at more than 50% of the total amount – a record to be proud of. We remain committed to improving these rates even further and are aiming to reach 60% recycling by 2022.”
