10k challenge for Ealing Foodbank

How your footwork can support vital foodbank

Ealing Foodbank was at the forefront of the community coalition Ealing Together, along with Ealing Council and many other local groups, as our borough responded to the coronavirus emergency this year. Now, there is a chance for residents to give it a hand as it faces a tough winter offering support to more and more people.

The team behind the award-winning Ealing Half Marathon (the popular annual event endorsed by the council) has joined forces with the foodbank to help raise money to support it.

You can read some stories about the fantastic work the foodbank has been doing, at the bottom of this article – which has included being a central hub for food parcels for the most vulnerable members of our community. The foodbank operates throughout the year as a vital lifeline. Recently, the council provided it with £112,000 of support, consisting of food and money.

How can I get involved?

It is simple. The Ealing Half Marathon team has created a 10k in 10 days Challenge to coincide with the time of the year the Osterley Park Winter 10k race would be run. You can take up the challenge anywhere in the world.

All you have to do is sign up to run, jog or walk 10k between Tuesday, 1 December and Thursday, 10 December. You can then run, jog or walk the distance in one go or in several segments up to the event closing on 10 December at 23:59pm. After providing verification, you will receive an Osterley Park Winter 10k medal.

The challenge costs at least £20.52. This cost includes £10 race entry and a minimum donation of £10 to Ealing Foodbank (you can give more if you are able to) and a 52p processing fee.

This event has limited places so grab your spot now to avoid missing out. If you have any further questions on this event, you can check the event’s FAQs or email its organisers.

You can share your journey via your social media using hashtags #OP10k and #EalingFoodbank
