Win a race place for Ealing Half Marathon - Mount Carmel team 2017

Win a race place for Ealing Half Marathon

If you have made a resolution to get fit this year, then make sure you take part in our exclusive competition to win a race place for this year’s Ealing Half Marathon, plus an amazing prize bundle of goodies,

If the furthest you have ever run is for is the bus, entering a half marathon might sound a little daunting, but that is exactly what parents, teachers and governors from 10 Ealing schools did last year.

With help and support from the organisers of Ealing Half Marathon the schools put together teams of runners, many of whom had never previously run, and helped them take part in the race.

As well as getting fit the teams raised thousands of pounds for their children’s schools, with the team from Mount Carmel raising an astonishing £9,000. In total schools in the borough have had a windfall of more than £30,000 thanks to the Ealing Half Marathon schools’ challenge.

Ealing Mini Mile and Family Mile

Up to 1,500 young people aged from 6 to 16 can also take part in the Ealing Mini Mile, which is a great way of encouraging children to get involved in sport. The race is officially timed, but it is suitable for all abilities and all children receive a medal and T-shirt to commemorate their achievement.

This year for the first time, organisers will also be holding a Family Mile which will give children aged five and under the chance to take part in their own separate race with an accompanying adult. And, yes, adults get a medal too.

Race director Sandra Courtney said: “We’re really proud of the Ealing Mini Mile because it’s such a brilliant way to encourage children to give running a try at a young age. It gives them a goal to work towards, the chance to take part in a big sporting event, be cheered on by crowds and experience the sensation of crossing a real finish line. I’m delighted that this year for the first time we’ll also be holding a Family Mile, giving even younger children the chance to take part.”
