The Queen's Platinum Jubilee 2022

Celebrating the Queen’s Platinum Jubilee

Come and join your neighbours in celebrating 70 years of Her Majesty’s reign. As part of the Platinum Jubilee celebrations, Ealing Council has planned a series of free events during the extended bank holiday weekend (2 – 5 June) to bring our communities together, make connections and share each other’s culture.

On Thursday 2 June, beacons will be lit in Walpole Park in Ealing and at Northala Fields in Northolt at 9.15pm. If you wish to attend, please arrive by 9pm.

On Sunday 5 June, free activities in Walpole Park will include music and dance on stage as part of the Big Jubilee Lunch from 12noon until 5pm, followed at 7.30pm by the Prom in the Park with Ealing Symphony Orchestra’s 60+ musicians and guest singer – all rounded off  by fireworks for a platinum finale.

Council Leader Peter Mason said: “The Platinum Jubilee weekend is a wonderful opportunity for us to come together as a community and mark the 70 years of service by Her Majesty the Queen – please join us in Walpole Park as the celebrations continue to mark this historic occasion.

“I am delighted the council has been able to support nearly 150 street parties across the borough with grants and street closures over the bank holiday weekend.

“I am also very proud to announce that Ealing Council has been recognised as a Platinum Council for its Jubilee Plans.”

The Big Jubilee Lunch

The Big Jubilee Lunch is an accessible, family-friendly event that celebrates the diversity and talent of west London’s communities. Bring a picnic or pick up refreshments from local businesses and settle down with family and friends for some spectacular performances. There will also be a funfair, bouncy castle, and other fun activities, and the park will be decked with bunting.

The afternoon kicks off with the UFO Steelband, followed by Jham!, a playful and energetic production from Srishti that fuses beatboxing, saxophone, and classical Indian dance. There will be more dance from Cody Studios, whose members have performed with the likes of Eve and Mel C, and music from Blues Dharma (guitar meets south Indian lute) and PRSSV’s high-energy tabla players. Young people from Ealing will also be joining in with performances from SA Dance, Luna Dance, Voices Singing School, and the talented young producers at Bollo Brook Youth Centre.

Tickets are not required for the Big Jubilee Lunch. Simply turn up and find a spot to join in the activities.

Prom in the Park

As the evening draws in, Ealing Symphony Orchestra, joined by a guest singer, will be performing a unique programme, combining Last Night of the Proms favourites alongside allusions to Ealing’s history and culture, with an opportunity for everyone to join in as the Jubilee weekend is taken to a grand finale.

To attend Prom in the Park, book your free tickets on Eventbrite.

Applications to the council for street parties have now closed.
