Planting for the Platinum Jubilee

The Mayor of Ealing, Councillor Munir Ahmed planted a walnut tree in Perivale Park recently for the Platinum Jubilee

As part of the celebrations for the jubilee, the tree was planted as part of The Queen’s Green Canopy, a unique tree planting initiative created to mark Her Majesty’s Platinum Jubilee in 2022.

Councillor Ahmed was joined by the leader of Ealing Council, Councillor Peter Mason, the Queen’s representative Deputy Lieutenant Graham Neame, local Perivale ward councillors and children from Coston Primary School.

Councillor Mason commented: “In 2022, Her Majesty The Queen will become the first British Monarch to celebrate a Platinum Jubilee after 70 years of unsurpassed service.

“While national celebrations are being planned to celebrate the jubilee and, with an extended bank holiday on Thursday, 2 and Friday, 3 June, many residents may be considering how they can join in with the celebrations locally with their friends and neighbours.

“So if you’re planning a street party, want to join with others in a Big Lunch in Walpole Park or enjoy an evening of live music, check out what’s being planned in Ealing.”

You can see a video of the tree planting above and pictures of the planting of the tree below.
