A new one-stop-shop for training, skills, and community learning opportunities is now open in Perivale.
Based at Perivale Children’s Centre in Federal Road, the Perivale learning zone welcomed its first visitors at its opening on 9 December with free activities such as yoga for wellbeing, paediatric first aid, and using artificial intelligence in everyday life.
Residents can visit the learning zone to boost their communication skills, get employment support, and explore new learning opportunities.
A growing learning network
The first learning zone in the borough opened in 2022 in Northolt and additional ones have since opened in Southall, Acton, Hanwell, and West Ealing. They are run by Ealing Council’s adult learning team, Learn Ealing.
In just 3 years, more than 900 residents have completed a total of 1,267 qualifications and training programmes in the zones, including English for speakers of other languages (ESOL), maths, digital skills, employability, and vocational courses.
Having set itself ambitious skills and training targets for the current council term (2022-26), the council and its partners are on track to have surpassed them by the end of April next year. It is anticipated that by then, residents will have successfully completed more than 12,000 qualifications and skills training programmes since April 2022.

Digital access for all
Councillor Kamaljit Nagpal, the council’s cabinet member for decent living incomes, said: “Learning zones are a fantastic way to make training and education available to everyone in our borough. They support our commitment to helping residents gain the skills they need for good jobs and brighter futures.
“Digital know-how is essential in today’s world – for work, study and everyday life. By expanding these spaces, we’re making sure more people have the tools and confidence to get online and thrive.”
