New Gen: showcasing rising young talent

Dance battles, DJs, live music and much more will hit the stage when the New Gen festival return to Walpole Park this summer.

The festival is being held on Wednesday 29 July, from 2pm to 9pm, and is the only youth-led event of its kind in west London. It showcases emerging talent across music, spoken word, dance and art.

Tickets are available to buy online and cost £3 for under-25s, and £5 for over-25s.

Now in its fifth year, New Gen has become a key part of the Ealing Summer Festivals programme. Hundreds of young performers are expected to take part.

Previous artists and performers, including Stepz, YJ, and Cristale, have gone on to build large audiences online.

What’s on?

Visitors can expect a full programme of performances and activities, including:

  • Battle of the Boroughs dance competition
  • main stage – headlined by DJ Fumez The Engineer, with performances from emerging artists and a TikTok host
  • amplify stage – open mic sessions, rap, spoken word and live music
  • drop-in activities – including musical instrument taster sessions, a chill-out space, entrepreneur hub, radio studio, and football sessions

Supporting young people

The festival is run by a team of young producers and supported by Ealing Council, Arts Council England and community partners.

Councillor Lauren Wall, the council’s cabinet member for thriving communities, said: “New Gen is a fantastic example of young people leading the way in creativity and culture in the borough. It gives them a platform to share their talent and build confidence. We are proud to support an event that celebrates our borough’s young people and brings the community together.”
