There is a new way of keeping up to date with what your local police teams are doing – and how you can get involved in keeping your neighbourhoods safe.
Met Engage, a new email service from the Metropolitan Police, sends tailored updates directly from local officers. These include:
- crime prevention advice
- details of local events and meetings
- updates on investigations
- and news of successful operations
The Met Engage platform aims to help build trust, reduce crime and raise standards by working more closely with communities.
Councillor Jasbir Anand, Ealing Council’s cabinet member for tackling crime and anti-social behaviour, said: “I encourage all residents in the borough to sign up to Met Engage. It’s an excellent way to stay connected with your local police, share your concerns directly, and play an active part in shaping the priorities that matter most to your neighbourhood. By working together and staying informed, we can make our communities safer and stronger for everyone.”
Residents who sign-up will be asked to complete a short survey, selecting their location and the types of alerts they want to receive – ensuring updates are relevant to their area.
Want to do more? Join your local ward panel
Promoting the safety of your local area is a valuable role – and you can help reduce crime and anti-social behaviour by working with your neighbours and the police.
If you want to help your local police team set their priorities, consider joining your Safer Neighbourhood Police Ward Panel.
These panels meet times a year and are managed by the local sergeant. Each meeting includes:
- rundown of local crime statistics
- updates on recent incidents, including anti-social behaviour
- tips on personal safety and protecting your home and property
- opportunities to share intelligence and concerns with other residents
As a panel member, you can help alert neighbours about incidents and emergencies and play an active role in promoting safety across your community.
To find out when your next ward panel meeting is taking place, contact your local Safer Neighbourhood Policing Team directly on Met Engage or here: https://www.met.police.uk/area/your-area/
