High school admissions

How to apply for high school places

Applications can soon be submitted for children to start high school in our borough.

If your child was born between 1 September 2008 and 31 August 2009, he or she will be due to leave their primary school next summer and start year seven at a high school in September 2020.

The recommended date for receipt of applications is 18 October 2019 or, by the absolute latest, the final, statutory deadline is 31 October 2019.

To find out more about your preferred schools, you can visit the admissions pages on the council’s website at www.ealing.gov.uk/admissions or, alternatively, you can contact the schools themselves. Each school will also be holding an open day, details of which can be viewed in a table here.

You can apply online at www.eadmissions.org.uk between 1 September and 31 October 2019.

If you are unable to apply online, you can ask your current school for an application form to fill in, and ask it for instructions if anything is not clear.

If you choose to apply online you must not complete a paper application as well. If you do not live in the London borough of Ealing you must contact your own home authority.

The Cardinal Wiseman (Catholic) and Twyford (Church of England) high schools require a supplementary informationform to be completed to assessdenominational commitment and these may be obtained either from the schools themselves, or from the council website at www.ealing.gov.uk/admissions

High school admissions
High school admissions process begins on 1 September

All new schools proposed to open in 2020/21 will be outside the co‑ordinated application process. Parents wishing to apply to those schools will need to contact the school direct and apply on the school’s application form. Parents are strongly advised to also apply for established secondary schools through the co-ordinated system because there is no guarantee at this point that the new schools will open in 2020.

Councillor Yvonne Johnson, the council’s cabinet member for schools and children’s services, said: “The admissions team at the council does all it can to make the process as easy as possible for you, and even runs individual advice sessions that you can book. These provide the ideal opportunity to ask questions and get guidance to help you fill in the form correctly.

“Choosing a school is not always a straightforward decision and the whole idea of having to apply can feel a little intimidating sometimes. But, if that is the case, the team can support you through it.”

You can book an individual advice session during the week of Monday, 7 October to Friday, 11 October, between 10am-4pm. You need to call the admissions team to book an appointment (020 8825 5522). The sessions will be held at Perceval House in Uxbridge Road, Ealing.

Visit www.ealing.gov.uk/admissions or you can get in touch with your preferred school. Alternatively, contact Ealing Council’s school admissions service by calling 020 8825 5522 between 9am and 12 noon, emailing mainroundadmissions@ealing.gov.uk or by post at Perceval House, 14-16 Uxbridge Road, Ealing W5 2HL.
