Gunnersbury welcomes back Lovebox and Citadel

Lovebox and Citadel Festivals will be returning to Gunnersbury Park next year following the success of the 2018 music festivals enjoyed by more than 100,000 people last summer.

Lovebox Festival will be held on Friday 12 July and Saturday 13 July2019, with Citadel following on Sunday 14 July 2019. Acts performing over the three-days will be announced as and when confirmed in the new year.

Julian Bell, Leader of Ealing Council said: “I am delighted to welcome the Lovebox and Citadel festivals back to the borough for a second year, following last year’s success.

“These events are rightly recognised as among the very best anywhere across the capital and beyond and boast acclaimed, international artists, and a vibrant atmosphere for fans attending. Gunnersbury Park is an ideal venue for hosting large public events and welcomed more than 100,000 people in 2018.

“Gunnersbury Park has undergone a hugely positive transition in recent years and hosting these festivals once again represents another boost for the park, further underlining our reputation as a place to see great live events.”

Councillor Steve Curran, Leader of Hounslow Council said: “It’s an exciting era for Gunnersbury Park and we’re pleased to be hosting the Lovebox and Citadel festivals for a second time next summer for the enjoyment of the local community. We are putting west London and Gunnersbury Park firmly on the map as one of London’s leading cultural destinations.

“The festivals are amongst the most popular events on the music calendar, not only in London, but across the country. Securing the rights to host these events at Gunnersbury Park for another year puts the boroughs of Ealing and Hounslow on the cultural map and builds our credibility as a location at the cutting edge of contemporary music and culture.

“The not-for-profit Gunnersbury Community Interest Company (CIC) who look after the day-to-day operations and oversee the park’s educational, leisure and cultural opportunities have done a fantastic job so far and we anticipate another successful festival weekend next year.”

David Bowler, Gunnersbury Estate CIC CEO said: “The Lovebox and Citadel festivals will be a key element of our exciting summer live events programme. Gunnersbury Park has undergone a phenomenal transformation in recent years and now offers a wealth of regular events,  including arts, crafts and exhibitions, alongside these exciting summer festivals.”

Over the past 16 years, Lovebox has become one of the most respected and well known city festivals throughout Europe. The festivals have showcased headline acts such as Frank Ocean, Childish Gambino, Skepta and LCD Soundsystem, as well as championing some of the very best in emerging talent,

Gunnersbury Park is entering a new era with its beautiful and heritage painstakingly restored and ambitious plans for new sports facilities nearing fruition.
