Ealing Climate Week is returning this September with even more events and advice on how to save money, improve your wellbeing, and tackle the climate crisis.
Ealing Climate Week: Better Living runs from Saturday 19 to Sunday 27 September. Local groups, individuals and Ealing Council will be holding a variety of free events to inspire people to make simple changes that could make their lives better by saving money, getting fitter, and reducing waste.
Last year’s Ealing Climate Week featured more than 100 events held by community groups, charities, businesses and Ealing Council across the borough’s 7 towns.
Events already lined up for this year include:
- a bill-savings roadshow, with sessions across the borough providing advice and free goodies throughout the week
- a celebration event, announcing a new grant scheme for faith and community groups to upgrade their buildings
- a big family-friendly social event for nature and climate groups in Pear Tree Park, Perivale
- second-hand school uniform giveaways
- discounts for riding electric bicycles from Voi and Lime
- Ealing Repair Cafe sessions teaching how to mend clothes
Keep an eye on the Around Ealing website for news of more events being added to the programme or visit the Ealing Climate Week website.
Get involved
Residents, businesses and community organisations are invited to get involved by organising their own event or take part in existing activities happening during Ealing Climate Week.
Would you like to hold your own event? You can register it on the Ealing Climate Week website.
Organisations who have signed up so far include Ealing Repair Cafe, Act for Ealing, Cycle Sisters, the Felix Project food distribution charity, Oxfam and Ealing GoodGym.
Participants can decide which events or activities they would like to host, but ideas for inspiration could include:
- clothes, toy or book swaps with neighbours or at your school or workplace
- getting together for a community litter pick or gardening session
- allotment holders sharing some of their autumn produce or teaching people how to grow their own herbs
Play on Car Free Day
Residents are invited to organise their own Play Streets so children and adults can enjoy a few hours of traffic-free fun close to home this September.
To mark World Car Free Day, and as part of Ealing Climate Week, the borough will be hosting Play Streets on the weekend – Saturday 19 or Sunday 20 September.
There is no charge to hold a Play Street and the council will provide support to residents who would like to host one. Applications must be received by Monday 3 August. Note that not all streets are eligible and will be subject to a review. More information is available on the council’s website
Councillor Dominic Moffitt, the council’s cabinet member for climate action, said: “Last year it was fantastic to see so many residents, community groups, charities and businesses join us in launching our first ever Ealing Climate Week
“I hope even more people will get involved this year as we plan to have lots more events which make people’s lives better and benefit the environment. For example, we’ll have more events which help residents save money – whether that’s by sharing advice on cutting energy bills or school uniform swaps to reduce the pressure on parents and stop clothes going to waste. There will be something for everyone, so please get involved.”

People who would like to find out more or host their own activity should visit the Ealing Climate Week website.
