Garages are available to hire

Get yourself one of the council’s garages

Revamped garages are now available to hire all over the borough, offering a convenient parking or storage option at competitive prices.

The garages are available from Ealing Council, after it recently appointed Secure Parking and Storage (SPS) as a contractor to refurbish and manage 1,500 of the council’s garages.

As well as restoring them, the company manages day-to-day activities at the garage sites like general cleaning, repairs and maintenance; and it also deals with any abandoned vehicles or unauthorised parking.

Many of the garages were in bad shape or had been deliberately blocked off to deter anti-social behaviour. The contract with SPS means that has changed.

As well as giving you a guaranteed parking space, renting a garage could also bring your insurance premium down by giving you a secure, off-street space to store your car.

Marcyln has lived on an estate in Southall for the last 14 years. She told us: “I’ve been renting three garages for the last few months.

“I use them for storing personal possessions. With three children at home, it’s great to have a bit more space.

“The garages are much cheaper than the storage units I used to pay for. They are also very convenient for me – I can see them from the window in my flat.

“I would encourage other residents to rent a garage if they need some extra space. I’ve already recommended it to my mum, who lives in Greenford, and now she’s got one too.”
