Ealing Half Marathon returns to the borough

The hugely popular Ealing Half Marathon is returning to the borough this month (Sunday, 29 September 2019) for its eighth year. As part of the event several roads will be closed in the local area, with buses subject to diversions.

Starting in Lammas Park at 9am, the 13.1-mile course will be run in a single lap, taking in parts of Central Ealing, Montpelier, Pitshanger, West Ealing, Hanwell and St Stephens before returning to Lammas Park via the Uxbridge Road.

The roads which the event will pass through will be closed to traffic. There will be a rolling road closure in operation and where possible the road will be re-opened 30 minutes after the last runner has passed by.

Several buses will also be on diversion from 7.30am, including numbers 207, 427, the E2 and E8. Check with Transport for London and the Ealing Half Marathon route map for more information on how the race will affect local transport.

The Ealing Half Marathon has been voted the UK’s best half marathon in previous years and is expected to see 7000 runners take part, supported by 700 volunteers.

The event attracts many local people and visitors from further afield as volunteers and it is hoped that residents will come out in force as in previous years. Details of how to volunteer can be found here.

Councillor Mik Sabiers, cabinet member for environment and highways said: “It’s been fantastic to see this local event back in the borough for its eighth year and we welcome the runners and volunteers, alongside the thousands of people who will no doubt come along to show their support.

“I appreciate that some people will be affected by the road closures in place for the safety of all and would like to thank residents for their understanding. I encourage local people to check local road closures and bus diversions to avoid any inconvenience on the day.
