Celebrating excellence in construction

The borough’s top construction employers, developers and outstanding staff have been celebrated at a special awards ceremony on Thursday 20 November.

The Ealing Construction Awards showcased the achievements of the industry across the borough, recognising its role in creating good jobs and commitment to quality, community, and opportunity.

Councillor Kamaljit Nagpal, the council’s cabinet member for decent living incomes, and others presented 6 categories at the event on Thursday, at Perceval House.

And the winners are…

The awards celebrate the remarkable contributions of individuals who have gone above and beyond in their roles, showcasing dedication, skill, and a passion for excellence in construction. The winners are:

  • Charlotte Thomas – apprentice of the year. Charlotte, who works for HS2, has demonstrated outstanding performance during her apprenticeship and made a significant impact at her workplace
  • Julia Podlinksa, (HS2) – outstanding professional growth
  • Luca Wickham, (HS2) – work experience student of the year. He has shown exceptional enthusiasm and delivered excellent service during their placement.

The awards also recognise businesses that have demonstrated outstanding commitment to social value, innovation, and community engagement, setting a benchmark for responsible and impactful construction practices. The winners are:

  • Glencar Construction – best project for young people. The company gives students with special educational needs hands-on experience in the construction industry through their work experience programme. The initiative was designed to help young people build practical skills and confidence, while providing opportunities for all students, including those with challenging behaviours
  • Hill Group – best project overall. For its Greenford Library ‘Glow up Day’ project. 15 volunteers came together to transform the library as a vibrant hub for learning, creativity, and connection. Hill Group connected sub-contractors and facilitated expertise in painting, cleaning, lift installation, roofing, tiling, plumbing, and more. The company provided not only labour and materials, but also demonstrated a long-term commitment to community wellbeing
  • Hill Group – developer of the year. For going above and beyond in creating meaningful programmes and initiatives for residents

Passion and commitment

Councillor Nagpal said: “Huge congratulations to all the winners and nominees.

“The Ealing Construction Awards highlight the work being done by employers in creating good work opportunities for our residents and driving social value in our borough. The awards also celebrate the outstanding success of those working in the industry and the impact they have at their workplace.”
