Learners shine at Celebration of Achievement awards

Learners and tutors were recognised for their outstanding achievements and contributions at an awards ceremony hosted by Ealing Council.

Last night on Thursday 28 November, the council’s adult learning and skills team, Learn Ealing, held its annual Celebration of Achievement ceremony, which celebrates its learners’ development and progression to higher level courses or employment over the last academic year.

The event, held at the DoubleTree Hilton in Ealing Common, was attended by learners and tutors as well as partners, representatives from the Greater London Authority, the deputy mayor of Ealing, Councillor Anthony Kelly, and the council’s cabinet member for decent living incomes, Councillor Kamaljit Nagpal.

The evening highlighted stories of triumph, with many learners securing jobs, advancing careers, and boosting their confidence and well-being through education. Their learning journeys inspired guests, showing how learning can unlock new opportunities and transform lives.

And the winners were…

  • Samar Alakriras for leadership and mentorship that empowered classmates to succeed
  • Grace Raw for impeccable punctuality and attendance despite overcoming significant challenges
  • Sana Lamkhakh for significant growth in self-esteem and confidence
  • Neil Hayward and Klaudia Kinga Imiolek for exceptional progress in employability skills
  • Simon Rodrigues for outstanding development within a term

The evening also recognised the vital contribution of tutors, especially those who have gone above and beyond to help their learners to improve their lives and future prospects. There were 3 award winners:

  • Jane Ferret for championing inclusive learning and teaching excellence
  • Daniel Gilson for innovation in subject-specific adult teaching
  • Viktorija Trunova for best overall tutor

To mark the occasion and truly celebrate the learners’ accomplishments, the vibrant evening was filled with live performances, raffles and a quiz.

‘Showcasing our learners’

Councillor Kamaljit Nagpal, the council’s cabinet member for decent living incomes, said:

“Congratulations to all the award winners and nominees for their incredible hard work and commitment this past academic year. It was such a pleasure to see the outstanding growth and dedication of all the learners and tutors who were showcased. It’s inspiring to see how far they have come.
