Collections for your clutter

It might be New Year but it’s never too early for a spring clean to clear out any clutter outstaying its welcome in your home. Luckily for Ealing residents, the council’s bulky waste collection service makes it straightforward to get read of unwanted items that won’t fit in your normal bin.

The service provides a special collection from your home for up to eight items that are too big for a normal household waste collection, of a size and weight that two people can carry. It’s a perfect way to remove bulky items whether you are getting rid of a couple of old appliances or embarking on a big renovation project.

Collections cost £40 for up to eight items and £25 per fridge or freezer. There is no limit to the number of collections you can book over the course of a year.

Alternatively appliances such as fridges, washing machines and freezers can be disposed of by residents for free at Greenford Road Re-use and Recycling Centre.

Councillor Bassam Mahfouz, the council’s cabinet m ember for transport leisure and environment said: “Whether you are clearing out after Christmas or starting a New Year DIY project, the council’s bulky waste collection service is a simple and responsible way to remove larger waste items such as old appliances and furniture. The service is a simple, value for money and responsible.

“It is vital that residents use the correct channels to dispose of waste at all times. That could be taking advantage of our collection service, taking bulky waste to the Re-use and Recycling Centre in person, or using a reputable waste clearance firm.

“If illegally dumped waste is traced back to your property you could be fined or even prosecuted so please help keep our streets clean by ensuring that bulky waste items are collected properly.”

Request and pay for a bulky items collection or find out further information about the service.

Check if a waste clearance firm is registered or call 08708 506 506.

The Ealing 24/7 app now allows you to report on street environmental issues quickly and easily using your smartphone.

If items are in good, clean reusable condition they can be collected to be passed on to vulnerable families. Same prices apply as the bulky waste collection.
