Big changes kick off at Wesley Playing Fields

Big improvements to one of the borough’s popular parks are underway and set to be ready for residents to enjoy in time for summer.

Residents were invited to share their ideas for Wesley Playing Fields, in North Acton, with Ealing Council and the Old Oak and Park Royal Development Corporation (OPDC). Their feedback has helped shape plans that support play, fitness and a social space for all ages.

What’s changing?

The project includes:

  • new playground equipment
  • new outdoor gym equipment
  • a new social space with seating.

The park entrance and paths will also be improved and there will be new solar lighting. The sports courts will be repainted with new markings. There will also be extra seating and a shelter.

Children will be able to swing, spin, balance and climb in the new-look playground, with a pendulum swing to enjoy, and a wheelchair-friendly roundabout.

Improved drainage and planted swales will help prevent the ground getting water-logged.

Work begins on Tuesday 26 May and is expected to be finished in August. To carry out the works, a large part of the park, including the playground and sports court will be out of use. Visitors can still use the gym equipment in the other area or visit nearby Midland Terrace playground, which was refurbished last year and North Acton Playing Fields.
