Seasons of Ealing: summer’s star snaps

This is the winning Seasons of Ealing summer photo. And, yet again, many of you helped to decide who won by voting for your favourite.

As well as the winning photo appearing here and in the latest edition of Around Ealing magazine, the photographer will receive the top prize of 4 tickets to watch a film at Ealing Picturehouse cinema.

Drumroll please…

Our panel first whittled down the summer entries to a shortlist of photos. These were then put to a public vote. But, this time, the voters decided the top 3 entries, before (oh, the tension) an eagle-eyed panel of judges (including a representative from Picturehouse) chose the final winner from that top 3.

The judges’ winner was Emma Bentley with her photo of Teddy the cockapoo in Hanwell’s Brent Lodge Park (pictured above).

Runners-up were Liz Scarff with her photo of the Brent River, in Perivale. And Colm Gorey with his photo of a bee landing on a flower in his West Ealing garden.

The runners-up will both receive an Ealing Picturehouse cinema ticket.

Well done to everyone who was shortlisted and thank you so much to everyone who took part.

Want to be a winner too?

Get ready for autumn’s contest. You know the drill. Send us your favourite photos that depict autumn. It could be taken in your local park or back garden or even in your street. It could be an event, wildlife, a family day out; whatever captures your interest.

Email your photo to aroundealing@ealing.gov.uk by the closing deadline for entries, which is midday on Monday 20 October 2025.

For your photo to be considered, you must:

  • put Seasons of Ealing in the subject line of the email
  • include your name, postal address and phone number
  • include a brief description of what the photo is of, when you took it and where you took it
  • state that the photo was taken by you, and that you also have permission of any people whose faces appear in the photo to enter the photo into the Seasons of Ealing competition
  • make sure the image is of a high enough resolution to be reproduced online and in print (poor quality images will not be considered)

What happens then?

When the deadline passes, a shortlist will be selected. As usual, these shortlisted entries will be put
out to a public vote. The voters will once again decide the top 3 entries, but then our panel of judges will choose the final winner from that top 3.

The result will be announced in Around Ealing‘s winter magazine.

Other things to know

By entering the competition, you are agreeing for your photo to be reproduced in Around Ealing magazine, on this website, and the council’s social media channels. No remuneration will be possible, but you will be named as the photographer if it is used in the Around Ealing magazine or website.

We will not, unfortunately, be able to reply to everyone who has entered the competition.

If any image is found not to have been taken in the borough, or to have broken any of the other conditions outlined above, the photo will be disqualified from the competition.

The key is that it must have been taken in the borough in the last 12 months – and, it must have
been taken by you.

Once again, the public will get to influence the final choice, so, even if you don’t enter, you can still get involved.
