Have a safe, sensible and pleasant Easter weekend

In my latest blog message (see video above) for Easter weekend, can I first pass on of all my best wishes for a speedy recovery to the Prime Minister and also to say the same to all those who are suffering from coronavirus right across the country and the world. I would also like to offer my condolences to those who’ve lost loves ones to this terrible virus

The message is that in order to save lives we need to stay at home and follow the advice that we have received from the Prime Minister earlier this week and that has been reiterated every day.

Can I also put on record on behalf of all of the people of Ealing our thanks to the fantastic NHS workers in our acute frontline hospitals who are fighting this virus courageously in Ealing, Northwick Park, and Charing Cross hospitals. A huge thank you.

I’m also trying to get personal protective equipment (PPE) for our fabulous social care workers, and trying to get it for our hospital workers and those working in our local GPS as well, so if you can help with any donations of PPE please get in touch with me.

Also, it is Easter weekend and we are reiterating the message to people to stay at home and only go out if you need to get vital food supplies, help someone who is vulnerable, or to have the permitted daily exercise.

Today (Thursday, 9 April) we have closed the car parks next to our parks because we want to discourage people from going in their cars on unnecessary journeys to exercise.

If you do use your local park to do that daily exercise, make sure you follow the rules. We are going to be increasing our patrols along with the police over this weekend and we are also putting extra signage up to make sure that those signs are clear. So, keep two metres distance, don’t play team contact sports don’t use the play and gym equipment. Make sure you are not passing on this virus.

By following the rules we will all be able to get out of this lockdown and move on much more quickly; and by staying at home we are protecting the NHS and saving lives.

Have a nice Easter weekend. Thank you.
