Julian Bell's Christmas message 2017

Christmas message: Here is to a happier new year for our hospitals

I just want to wish all the residents of the London borough of Ealing a very, very happy Christmas and a Happy New Year when it comes.

Certainly, 2017 has been a challenging year and one of the big issues locally has been our saving our local hospitals. I’m very, very grateful for everyone who’s participated in our rallies in March and also everyone who signed the Save Our Hospitals petition.

We still have an opportunity to get more people to sign that petition through until when the petition closes at the end of January 2018 so if I can ask everyone to try and get all of their family and friends to sign up to the Save Our Hospitals petition I’d be really, really grateful.

There’s an issue of fairness about the way these proposals have been put forward because what effectively is going to happen is that the most deprived and challenged communities in the borough are the ones who are going to lose out, who are going to have to travel much much further when the A&E is closed and it’s a real challenge for families when they’re going to visit relatives who are sick in hospital that they’re going to have to travel so much further and we’re going to continue to fight for that justice and for our health services to be safe,  for our Ealing and Charing Cross hospitals to be saved and all those services that we value so much. And I really hope that everyone can join in with us in the campaign in the new year.

We’re not going to let this one drop, we’re going to fight it every inch of the way to save our hospitals.

Happy Christmas and a Happy New Year.
