Welcome back to Javi Nails

Javi Nails has been operating in Southall since 2008. Run by local resident Van Dao, Javi Nails specialises in nail and foot spa treatments including manicures and pedicures.

As part of our welcome back campaign, Van Dao told us more about his local business and the impact of the pandemic.

Tell us about Javi Nails

We have been running Javi Nails for more than 10 years in Southall and see our business as an important part of the community, where we assist people to enhance their beauty, and help customers feel good and confident about themselves.

As a business we are open to learning and we are continually developing our skills every day. It is important for us and our customers that we keep up with the latest trends.

Thanks to the continuous growth and development of the beauty industry, we have been able to gain technical and management skills as well as people skills to help better serve our customers.

We are also lucky to have good people working for us. We have managed to keep our staff for a long time and our turnover is very low which is unusual in the personal care industry.

How has the pandemic impacted your business?

As a small business, it has been very tough. But we have been well prepared by our management and, thankfully, we have been able to benefit from the financial support from the government.

We have had to adapt to all the new guidance and regulations but we have taken away some positives for our business too. We have had to tailor our operation to set-up a website, and moving to online bookings has been beneficial.

We have now set-up a sophisticated online booking system and we are able to provide information to our clients, staff, and other stakeholders regarding our new way of doing business based on NHS guideline and government recommendations.

Our aim is to keep our business safe for everyone. This means ensuring customers book in advance rather than pop-in for an appointment. We also maintain distance between customers as well as ensuring hands are washed and everyone is wearing a mask.

We don’t know what the future will bring and if people will return to having their nails done, but we are still here and hopefully can continue to remain in the community for many years to come.

Why support local?

I strongly believe that any local business should serve its community well with their expertise, quality products and services in order to have continued support from their customers. It is important for people to shop locally whenever they can so that small businesses like us can survive and hopefully create jobs and make other contributions to the local community in the long run.

We want to thank our customers for their understanding and support. We are looking forward to welcoming you back!
