Christmas card competition: the places you love

What does your favourite place in the borough look like at Christmas? We would love to see it through your artwork.

Whether it is a frost-covered park, a high street lit up for the festive season or a much-loved local landmark, young artists across the borough are being invited to get creative and enter Ealing Council’s annual Christmas card design competition.

The theme for this year is ‘Places We Love in Ealing at Christmas’, and the competition is open to all school-age children living or studying in the borough.

The winning designs will be used by the leader of Ealing Council, cabinet members, and senior officers – including the chief executive – as their official cards this festive season. Winning entries might also feature on the council’s social media channels, and in the winter edition of Around Ealing magazine, just like (as pictured above), the 2025 overall winning entry by Helen Soo, which also won the 7-11 category.

Council leader Peter Mason said: “Judging the Christmas card competition is a bright point of my year but can also be tricky as we have so many talented young artists.

“It’s a joy to send out Christmas cards with a real local connection, and I know that they bring a smile to everyone who receives them.”

The competition will be judged by Councillor Mason, Councillor Louise Brett, deputy leader and cabinet member for safe and genuinely affordable homes, and Councillor Blerina Hashani, the council’s cabinet member for a fairer start.

How to enter

Here’s what you need to do:

  • choose your age category: 6 years and under, 7–11 years or 12–18 years
  • create your artwork on plain white A4 paper, in landscape format
  • include your full name, age, and school
  • send a photo or scanned image of your design to: vaghelah@ealing.gov.uk
  • make sure to include contact details for a responsible adult (parent, carer or teacher)

Deadline for entries is 5pm on Wednesday 4 November 2026. Winners will be announced in the digital edition of Around Ealing’s winter magazine.

So, grab your pens, paints and imagination – and help to make the council’s Christmas cards extra special this year. Good luck.
