Students across the borough collected their GCSE results on Thursday (21 August) and it has been another strong year for its schools and pupils, according to the latest figures.
Results gathered from most of the borough’s high schools indicate that students have once again achieved results well above both London and national averages.
What do the results say?
- 82.1% of students achieved grade 4 or above in English. A grade 4 is considered a pass at GCSE level. This compares with the London average of 63.5% and the national average of 59.5%
- 76.5% of students achieved grade 4 or above in maths, compared with the London average of 60.6% and the national average of 57.2%
Signs of further improvement
The figures also show a small increase in the borough’s average Attainment 8 score, one of the government’s main measures of GCSE performance. The score reflects pupils’ achievements across 8 subjects and is used to compare outcomes between schools and areas.
The borough’s average Attainment 8 score is expected to remain well above the national average (45.9 in 2025) and the average for London schools (50.5 in 2025).

These results reflect the hard work and commitment of young people across the borough, as well as the support provided by teachers, school staff and families.
Councillor Blerina Hashani, Ealing Council’s cabinet member for a fairer start, said: “Congratulations to all the students who received their GCSE results. Their achievements reflect years of hard work and determination, supported by teachers, school staff and families across our borough.
“The early results are very encouraging and show the borough continuing to perform strongly compared with both London schools and schools across the country.
“Whether students are moving on to sixth form, further education, apprenticeships or other opportunities, I wish them every success in the next stage of their journey.”
