Next Thursday (25 June), if you live in North Acton, you can vote to help choose a new councillor to represent you.
A ‘by-election’ was called after the resignation of Councillor Simon Anthony. He stood down not long after the local election held in May.
If you live in the North Acton ward and are registered to vote, you can help choose who will replace Councillor Anthony as the area’s representative on Ealing Council for the next 4 years.
There are 6 candidates standing in the by-election and you will be able to choose 1 candidate from this list:
Who is standing
- Abdi Ahmed – Liberal Democrat
- Marijn van de Geer – The Green Party
- Sally Gorman – The Conservative Party Candidate
- Jonathan Notley – Reform UK
- Gareth James Shaw – Labour Party
- Craig Smith – Ealing Community Independents – Putting Acton First
Where do you vote?
You should have received a polling card in the post. This tells you where your nearest polling station is but you can also find your polling station on the council website.
The polling stations for the North Acton ward by-election are:
- Temporary Polling Place, Wesley Playing Fields, North Acton Road, NW10 6PH
- The Collective Old Oak, Nash House, Old Oak Lane, NW10 6FF
- Westcott Park Community Centre, 13 Ferguson Drive, London, W3 6YP
- St Gabriel’s Church Hall, Noel Road, London, W3 0JD
- St Vincent’s Primary School, Pierrepoint Road, London, W3 9JR
- West Acton Community Centre, Churchill Gardens, W3 0JN
What you need to vote
Polling stations are open from 7am to 10pm on Thursday 25 June.
You must take an acceptable form of photo ID to the polling station, such as your passport or driving licence. A full list of acceptable forms of ID is available to see on the council website.
What happens when I get to the polling station?
Polling station staff will be there to help when you arrive. They are trained to support voters, make sure the process is fair, and protect your privacy.
Staff will ask for your name and address and will check your photo ID. Bringing your polling card can help, but your photo ID is essential.
You will then be given a ballot paper listing the candidates you can vote for. Follow the instructions on the notices in the polling booth and at the top of the ballot paper to cast your vote.
Voting if you have accessibility needs
The council has put measures in place to support voters with accessibility needs, including wheelchair ramps, low-level polling booths, large-print ballot papers and other equipment to support deaf and partially sighted/blind voters.
