You are not alone: Dementia support at hand

Are you worried about yourself or a loved one showing early signs of memory loss? Are you caring for someone with dementia and feeling overwhelmed, or unsure what help is available in the borough?

You can find answers and advice at a free Dementia Information and Support event on Thursday 28 May, running from 12 noon to 2.30pm, at Greenford Hall on Ruislip Road, Greenford.

The special event is being organised by the Ealing Dementia Action Alliance, in partnership with Ealing Council, as part of Dementia Action Week (18–24 May). Dementia Action Week highlights the importance of understanding, compassion and building supportive communities for people affected by dementia.

On the day, NHS teams and voluntary sector organisations will be available to offer information, advice and practical guidance. Visitors can also attend talks on cognitive impairment and learn more about how music therapy can support people living with dementia.

To support carers, a dedicated care supervision area will be available. This means carers can bring the person they care for with them and have time to focus on the information and support on offer.

Help is available

Adenike Tilleray, the council’s strategic director of adult social care, said: “We have a broad range of dementia-related support in Ealing, delivered through partnerships across voluntary, community and statutory organisations.

“You do not have to deal with dementia on your own. If you are worried about someone you care for, or are unsure what support is available, please come along to this event. This is a chance to talk to professionals, ask questions, and find out what help is available locally for you and your family.”

Book your place

The event is free, but registration is required. You can register online or contact the Ealing Carers Partnership on 020 3475 9891.
