Children play at a HAF event with a carer

Free holiday fun for families this festive season

Families are in for a festive treat with return of Ealing Council’s holiday activities and food (HAF) programme this winter, so book your child’s place now.

HAF offers a mix of free activities and healthy meals for children during the school holidays.

Running from Monday 22 December 2025 to Friday 2 January 2026, the Department for Education-funded programme is designed to keep kids active, creative and smiling all season.

Who can join?

Children and young people who live or go to school in the borough, from reception to year 11, and receive benefits-related free school meals can book free of charge. If your child doesn’t automatically qualify, speak to their school to find out how to join.

What’s on offer?

This year’s line-up has something for everyone – including a wide range of provision for those with special educational needs and disabilities (SEND):

  • circus skills – acrobatics and balance tricks in a safe, fun setting
  • dance camps – from street to contemporary
  • festive arts and crafts – make decorations and gifts to take home
  • martial arts – build confidence and learn new skills
  • team sports – football, basketball and multi-sport fun
  • exciting trips – explore local attractions and make lasting memories

Making a difference

The HAF programme isn’t just about having fun – it helps tackle holiday hunger and isolation, giving children a safe space to learn, play and thrive. Every session includes a nutritious meal, so families can enjoy the holidays without extra worry.

Councillor Josh Blacker, the council’s cabinet member for a fairer start, said: “This programme makes a real difference for families across the borough. It’s about more than the activities and a meal – it’s about inclusion, wellbeing and making sure every child has the chance to enjoy the festive season.”
