The borough’s reuse and repair site, ReActon, is back with another exciting, family-friendly event, and this time it’s all about bikes.
On Saturday 19 July, from 11am to 3pm, the ReActon site in Stirling Road, Acton, will be transformed into a celebration of all things cycling.
You can expect:
- free bike repairs by Collect4Reuse’s trained mechanics
- second-hand bikes available to buy
- fun activities and prizes for all ages
Expect to see some amazing alternative inventions too, that all run on pedal power – even can crushers. It’s a great way to learn about sustainability while having fun.
The event has been organised by Ealing Council, in partnership with West London Waste Authority and Suez.
Councillor Paul Driscoll, the council’s cabinet member for climate action, said: “Events like this are a brilliant way to bring the community together and show how fun sustainability can be.
“ReActon is all about rethinking waste and reusing what we already have – and what better way to do that than with bikes that surprise and delight?”
There’s no need to book, simply turn up on the day and join in the fun.
Coming up next at ReActon…
Mark your calendars for Saturday 16 August, when ReActon will be hosting a school uniform swap and giveaway. Whether you want to donate outgrown uniforms, swap for the next size up, or simply take what you need – everyone is welcome. It’s a great way to save money, reduce waste, and support local families.
A transforming space
The council, together with West London Waste Authority and Suez, is in the process of further transforming the ReActon site in Stirling Road, so it can become a permanent space for residents to repair, reuse and recycle electronics, bicycles, furniture, clothes and lots more.
The Acton site will not accept household rubbish and recycling, but residents can still take recycling, bulky items or general household waste to Greenford Road reuse and recycling centre or Abbey Road household reuse and recycling centre.
More events are planned to take place this summer.
