Around Ealing magazine winter 2021 edition

Welcome to the winter 2021 edition of Around Ealing magazine. You can view it as an interactive e-mag or as a PDF which you can download – see below.

So much has happened in 2021, and so much has changed as the vaccination programme progressed to counteract coronavirus, that it has almost been as momentous a year as the unprecedented
events of 2020.

And, again, I felt like it flew by. Time has taken on an unusual quality recently.

By now, I’m sure everyone reading this will know someone who has suffered terribly with the virus – and it is quite possible we all know someone (or know of someone) who lost their life.

Therefore, I want to again personally pass my sympathies to anyone who has lost someone this year. Whether that loss was as a direct result of COVID-19 or not, one of the effects of the virus has been to make grieving more difficult.

In this edition

We look at the council’s Plan for Good Jobs, and speak to those working hard to make our high streets thrive and those who have benefited from various schemes to get work experience, training or career boosts.

We also interview an extraordinary local climate leader, who has been a true leadership figure in Northolt with a green and healthy message which she and her family are walking the walk for, as well as talking the talk.

There is a lot more besides – including 12 tips for a green Christmas, changes to your bin collections over Christmas and new year and details of the Shaping Ealing survey.

I wish you all a merry Christmas, or happy Chanukah, and a positive new year. The magazine will be back in February. Please keep visiting the Around Ealing website in the meantime.
