Welcome to the summer 2021 edition of Around Ealing magazine. This has been a feelgood edition to pull together because we have been able to include a summer activities section, for the first time. After the year we have all endured, it is so nice to be able to look forward to things again – and with other people.
So, please make sure you take a look through (and perhaps keep) the section beginning on page 10. It includes the return of the Ealing Summer Festivals. Although it is not quite its full traditional programme, it is exciting to see it back after having to be cancelled last year.
There are also four competitions in the magazine: One for children to win a free dance class with Strictly Come Dancing star Oti Mabuse (p8); one to win a season ticket to Hanwell Zoo (p15); one for school pupils to get their art on the side of the council’s recycling trucks (p8); and, finally, one to win tickets to Ealing Comedy Festival (p10).
In addition, we speak to a charity shop reopening in Acton as the high streets slowly return to life; provide a list of job and skills opportunities provided by local partners (p30) and speak to an apprentice who turned her chance into a full-time job (p31) in her 30s. There is also an update on COVID and much more.
